Colorado Springs, Colorado
Temps: 52F (11C) / 32F (0C)
We just bid Sue & Mo adieu after having another delightful meal together. On the homebound leg of their roundtrip cross-country motorhome trip — which Sue is recounting on her blog, The MoHo and Other Traveling Tales — they detoured to Colorado to see us and also Mo’s sister in Denver. We were, of course, delighted to have them visit and be our first guests at the stix & brix home.
Our time together was brief … but oh so much fun. We try to stay in touch via texts and emails, but there’s nothing quite like visiting in person to renew bonds that were forged when we started following each other’s blogs years ago. The camaraderie picked up from right where we left off in Grant’s Pass last year … lots of laughter … lots of memories revisited … lots of new memories made. Easygoing ladies that Sue and Mo are, they didn’t even mind that our home is far from being fully furnished … at least we have a sofa and some chairs now so they didn’t have to sit on the camp chairs that provided seating until about a week ago ;-)
A delightful lunch @ TAPAteria in Old Colorado City.
We managed to pack quite a bit into our two short afternoons together. Thanks Sue for sharing the photos you took since I neglected to bring my camera on our outings. I’ll only post a few so as not to “steal your thunder” when you write your blog post.
A windblown and partly overcast afternoon at Garden of the Gods … does not
detract from the beauty of the red rocks … with Pike’s Peak as a backdrop.
The USAFA Class of 1959 Challenge Bridge at the Heritage Trail near
Doolittle Hall serves as a great setting for a photo of two bloggers.
There’s always opportunity to see some wildlife on the Academy grounds.
Today we are rewarded with sightings of a dark-eyed Junco and a couple of deer.
Mui, does this bring back memories of your basic training days?
(For those not familiar with military training traditions … the bedding
must be pulled so tight that a tossed a coin will bounce on the bed.)
Here’s to another reunion sometime soon … in your state … in our state … or somewhere on the road. Just a few more days and you will be home, enjoying your own stix and brix after being on the road awhile. I know you are looking forward to it. Happy homecoming.

We always treasure reading blogs texts and emails, sharing photos, but face to face visits are so extra special, no matter how short. Your new home is beautiful, perfect for your life, and will only get better when your beautiful art is showcased on the beautiful walls lit up with Colorado light.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful for everyone that you could get together in your new Colorado home! As you say, Sue and Mo are lots o' fun to be with -- I know the beautiful Garden of the Gods resounded with much laughter!
ReplyDeleteNice to see the MoHo's there to help you break in your new home. They have the experience needed for that! There are a lot of interesting places to see in and around Colorado Springs. Maybe Mui could teach at the AirForce academy! I'm certain he knows how to make a tight bunk! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the Garden of the Gods!! Sweet that you had visitors to your new home.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have Sue and Mo as your first houseguests! Great photo of you and Mui with the Garden of the Gods as your backdrop.
