Alsancak, İzmİr — Turkey
Temps: Hi 94F (34C) / Lo 73F (23C)
Had things gone according to plan we’d be in Amsterdam today to embark Celebrity Silhouette for a cruise that would have taken us to Scandinavia & Russia. But life has thrown us a curve ball this year, so we’re in Turkey instead. There’s a Turkish saying that perfectly describes our situation — roughly translated, it goes something like: man plans, destiny laughs. C’est la Vie!
We’ll try again another time!
At this point, our plans are totally up in the air …

We just never know what tomorrow brings. Good Mui was able to return "home" quickly to be with his mother. Thinking of you, Mui, and his family:)
ReplyDeleteThe good thing is, there will always be other cruises:)
ReplyDeleteThe Turkish saying sounds a lot like a Christian saying....Tell God your plans and watch Him smile. Hope all is going well with Mui's mom.
ReplyDeleteSince your plans are up in the air, might as well go sky diving. You could take your camera with you and get some unforgettable photos.
ReplyDeleteI guess some version of that saying is a part of many cultures. I can't read Turkish, but I do so love the sound of it. Hopefully I can get Mui to say that for me sometime in person, so that I can remember how it sounds as well as what it means. So sorry for the troubles that caused you to have to cancel. Sending hugs to both you and Mui, and good thoughts to Mui's sister as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, circumstances can get in the way of plans, more's the pity. C’est la Vie, indeed. We just keep sticking one foot in front of the other, that's what we do. As always, best wishes to all.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the cruise and even more sorry about the reason for the cancelation.
