PostCards from Italy to Turkey ... a Cruise in Review

İstanbul, Turkey
Temps: Hi 79F (26C) / Lo 61F (16C)

On 22 September, we embarked on our first — but hopefully not last — Oceania cruise.  The 684-passenger Nautica brought us from Civitavecchia, Italy to İstanbul, Turkey.  During our 12-night cruise, we enjoyed exploring new-to-us ports as well as visiting a few that we’d been to before … what great fun we had.

Civitavecchia, Italy — Embarkation Day …

Sorrento, Italy …

Naples, Italy (replacement port; bad weather prohibits tendering in Amalfi) …

Cagliari, Sardinia …

Trapani, Sicily …

Valletta, Malta …

Aghios Nikolaos, Crete (Greece) …

Fira, Santorini (Greece) …

Kuşadasi, Turkey …

Skiathos (Greece) …

İstanbul, Turkey …

Fifty years of friendship … once again celebrated in İstanbul.

With the cruise at an end, we now head to the airport where Mui and I will go our separate ways to spend time with our respective families … we’ll re-join forces in 3.5 weeks for the return trip to the US …

  1. On my, that looks like an incredible cruise with gorgeous ports of call on a beautiful ship. I hope someday we can read the rest of the story, but if not, the photos gave a good taste of wonderful. Enjoy your family time in Izmir.

  2. Well, I'm not even a little behind, I'm a big behind! Every port looked inviting, each in its own way. If you HAD to choose (which, luckily, you don't), which POC would've been your favorite on this cruise? Looks like I have some catch-up reading to do! :- )

  3. Nickie, difficult choice, but I think it would be a tie between Sicily and Santorini.
